WHITEMAN OSTERMAN & HANNA LLP WELCOMES CHRISTIAN M. COYNE AS OF COUNSEL
ALBANY, N.Y. – Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, the Capital Region’s largest law firm, has announced that Christian M. Coyne has joined the Firm as Of Counsel in the Business, Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. In his new role, Mr. Coyne will support clients through all stages of the business lifecycle, with a focus on corporate structuring, equity and debt financing, fund formation, and governance matters. Known for his strategic thinking and hands-on approach, Mr. Coyne has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor to both founders and investors in the fast-paced emerging companies space.
Mr. Coyne brings nearly a decade of experience representing a diverse portfolio of clients, from early-stage startups to global financial institutions, in complex corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital deals, and general counsel services. Prior to joining Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, he built a successful legal practice in San Francisco focused on advising startups and growth-stage businesses. Mr. Coyne previously served as Counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, after working as a Senior Associate at Hogan Lovells US LLP. He began his legal career at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.
Mr. Coyne has deep expertise in the emerging companies space, representing both investors and companies, including debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions and advising companies and their boards on a variety of legal matters. His wide-ranging experience enables him to provide practical, solution-oriented advice tailored to businesses at every stage of growth.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy,
summa cum laude, from the University at Albany, followed by a Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the
Duke Law Journal. He is admitted to practice in both New York and California.
A native of Upstate New York, Mr. Coyne returns to the Capital Region with his fiancée to raise their family. His local roots, combined with national legal experience, bring a unique and valuable perspective to Whiteman Osterman & Hanna’s growing corporate practice.
