  • Command Center Administrator (Part-Time)

    Summary:
    Reporting to the Director of Command Center Operations, Safety, and Security, the Command Center Administrator (CCA) plays a critical role in maintaining situational awareness to ensure the security of NYSBA’s critical infrastructure and assets and the safety of the traveling public. This responsibility is fulfilled through active and passive monitoring of security, traffic, and safety conditions across all five bridge facilities operated by NYSBA: the Bear Mountain Bridge, Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, Mid-Hudson Bridge, Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, and Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

    The Command Center Administrator coordinates and manages responses to security, traffic, and safety incidents occurring on NYSBA property. Additionally, the CCA ensures the functionality of essential NYSBA technologies and equipment through routine testing and troubleshooting, supporting seamless operations.

    This role involves performing a range of administrative tasks to support daily operations, including but not limited to securing shift coverage, managing communications, and maintaining updated reference materials. The CCA also contributes to departmental and agency-wide initiatives by working on projects and assignments aligned with their expertise, such as data analysis, emergency management, or technology integration.

    This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with the ability to think critically, act decisively in dynamic situations, and support NYSBA’s mission to uphold the safety and security of its infrastructure and the public.

    This position requires reliability to work prescheduled and unscheduled shifts. As a 24/7 operation, the ability to work ANY SHIFT is an essential function of the position.  Consequently, scheduling flexibility is a must, including willingness to work extended or irregular hours, such as nights, weekends and holidays.

    Exemption Status:          Part-Time – Non Exempt position at the Command Center, located at the Mid-Hudson Bridge Campus

    Skills/ Requirements:    The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience which would include:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Valid New York State Driver’s License
    • Three (3) years of experience in a Command Center Operator, Emergency Service Dispatcher, or comparative emergency management role
    • Successful completion of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) New York Respond (NYR) system, training can be acquired within 6 months of employment
    • Successful completion of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) course, training can be acquired within 6 months of employment
    • Applicable Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) course certifications (IS-100, IS-200, IS-241, IS-700 and IS-1300)
    • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays
    • Flexibility of work location – monthly tests are conducted at our back up Command Center facility, as well as occasionally needing to support the State Emergency Operations Center in Albany, NY on an as-needed basis
    • Critical thinking skills – ability to make decisions during emergency incident response, and at times in stressful situations
    • Versatile skillset to assist with various departmental projects on an ad hoc basis
    • Demonstrated ability to work scheduled and unscheduled shifts.
    • Open availability for 24/7 scheduling, including willingness to work extended or irregular hours, such as nights, weekends, and holidays.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    The hiring rate for this position is $36.06/hr.  In addition, we offer excellent benefits including:
