Marketing and Communications - charged with creating or sharing content for social media pages, newsletter, and emails; cross-marketing other women related events in the H.V. area; and marketing for WLA events. This sub-committee will work revise guidelines for publishing content for WLA social media, newsletter, etc. This sub-committee will work with other sub-committees on marketing and communication needs and collaborate with the Chamber’s Communications team in a timely fashion. This sub-committee will also either write or coordinate with guest authors to produce (bi-monthly) articles to be included the DCRCOC Newsletter.
Events & External Partnerships - charged with identifying and planning educational and networking events throughout the year for full committee approval and collaborating with chamber liaisons to ensure success. This collaboration includes ensuring that adequate space is secured, all relevant materials are provided and learning about sponsors.
Some events include engaging guest speakers and panelists. This sub-committee would also identify external partnerships to engage with for support and/or education. The 2023 calendar includes a combined educational/netgiving event on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day, Netgiving Events on June 8 and September 26, and the annual DEI event on October 31.
Nonprofit - charged with collaborating with the chosen organization about their needs and coordinating with WLA committee to help provide those needs. When no one on the WLA Committee is available, this sub-committee will collaborate with chamber liaisons to identify other Chamber members who can provide support to the nonprofit.
Membership - charged with building membership and collaborating with chamber liaisons to keep membership list updated and organized. This sub-committee also reaches out by phone or email to personally engage with prospective new members to provide an overview of WLA and answer questions.
Advocacy- Identifies women’s issues in support of our mission or strategic initiatives. Primary responsibilities include proposing events to the Events sub-committee in support of these issues, developing awareness with the general public by working with the Marketing and Communications sub-committee to post content on the WLA website and social media.
