Join the Chamber's Nonprofit Committee for an enlightening nonprofit seminar, in which we will delve into presenting a seminar focusing on board of director roles.
The work of the board of directors is central to all nonprofits, especially so for all-volunteer organizations. Yet how a board functions and what is required of the body is often not clearly understood, whether by board members themselves or employees of the organization they serve. In part this is due to the varying expectations that different nonprofits hold for their boards, separate from New York State legal requirements.
This hands-on introductory program will help sort out key aspects of nonprofit board roles and responsibilities, and is intended for a broad audience of current board members, people considering board service, and employees of nonprofits. Participants will have substantial time in small groups to discuss scenarios that boards may face from legal, financial, and ethical standpoints.
