County Players, one of the longest running community theatre companies in the area is proud to present the sweeping musical tapestry “Ragtime”, which opens Friday, May 3, and runs through May 19, 2024. With a book by Terrence McNally, Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Music by Stephen Flaherty and based on the novel, “Ragtime” by E.L. Doctorow, the show is directed by Anna Marie Paolercio with musical direction by Karen Dalmer-Sheehy, and choreography by Denise Wornell. This Tony Award-winning musical depicts an African-American family, a Jewish immigrant family, and a wealthy white suburban family in turn-of-the-century America, who collide in pursuit of the American Dream. Nominated for 13 Tony Awards® including “Best Musical”, and winning for “Best Original Score” and “Best Book of a Musical”. “Ragtime” is a powerful portrait of life during the turn-of-the century, exploring America’s timeless contradictions of freedom and prejudice, wealth, and poverty, hope and despair.

Ringwood, Amy Schaffer, Laura Seaman, Richard Leonard Smith, Yvonne Tirado, Chris Tomer, Eero Vaitkus, Jontae D. Walters, Gerard Weiss, Jr., AvaGrace Sierralee Wilson, Douglas Woolley, and Jonah Woodcock. ABOUT COUNTY PLAYERS- One of the longest running community theatre companies in our area, County Players is an all-volunteer organization which has presented more than 250 productions and has served thousands of theatergoers since 1958. Located in the Village of Wappingers Falls the troupe acquired the former Academy Theatre and renamed it the County Players Falls Theatre, their home since 1977.
