She’s an award-winning actress and writer. And he’s a star of TV, stage and film. Together on social media, KATHRYN GRODY and MANDY PATINKIN, interviewed by their son Gideon, shared hilarious nuggets of their “uninterrupted togetherness,” thoughts on 40+ years of marriage and hundreds of other topics, entertaining millions during the COVID shutdown. Now they are coming to the Hudson Valley at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 at the Beacon High School auditorium to benefit The Highlands Current.
Kathryn Grody received Obie Awards for her performances in Top Girls, by Caryl Churchill, and The Marriage of Bette and Boo, by Christopher Durang, and received a Drama Desk nomination for her autobiographical solo show, A Mom’s Life. Film appearances include Limbo, Men with Guns, My Bodyguard, Lemon Sisters, Another Woman and Reds. Her writing has been published in Oprah, Harper’s Bazaar, The Mountain Record and ivillage, and her book, A Mom’s Life, was published by Avon.
Mandy Patinkin won a Tony Award for his role as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita, and was nominated for his role as George in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George. Mandy portrayed Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride and appeared in numerous other films. On television, he won an Emmy Award for his performance Chicago Hope, and starred in Showtime’s Dead Like Me and Homeland. Mandy continues to tour his stage concerts around the U.S.
