The Women’s Leadership Alliance of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Salute to International Women’s Day on Saturday March 5, 2016. Keynote speaker Pamela Eddington, President of Dutchess Community College will speak on the topic of “Fit Women Make Fit Leaders.” Krista Jones Founder of Sparrow’s Nest will talk about her mission to provide meals to families with parents who have cancer and Pari Forood of Miles of Hope will share the latest information on what women can do to protect themselves from breast cancer. The morning will culminate with our seventh annual Walk Across the Walkway in solidarity with women around the world.
As part of the day's celebration, the 2016 WLA Nonprofit of the Year will be chosen (with your help) from among five organizations: Astor Services for Children & Families, Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center at Val-Kill, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and Omega Women’s Leadership Center. The selection process is a simple ballot vote. The nonprofit organization with the most votes will be announced as part of the IWD ceremony.
Harney & Sons Fine Teas will give away a gift basket as a raffle prize as well as share samples to the first walkers to check in. So, don't be late!
Everyone is welcome to join us. So spread the word! This is a wonderful opportunity for young women, families and students to learn about women’s issues and for all of us to share in the solidarity of spirit with women around the world.
Thanks to lead sponsor MidHudson Regional Hospital! Other sponsors include Associa NY, Dutchess Community College and Poughkeepsie Galleria.
