    Youth Leadership Update

(Bottom-right) Caroline Sottile, a sophomore at Spackenkill High School and Youth Leadership Company President speaking at Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours Networking event on December 13, 2023 in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The Youth Leadership Track 1 Students have some exciting updates about their Student-Based Company – the company name they voted on is H2ECO, and they will be selling reusable metal water containers (their own spin on the YETI mug concept). The logo will be engraved by the students on The Chamber Foundation’s XTool D1 Laser Engraver, giving the students practical experience building a for-profit company from the ground up, and empowering them with a handcrafting skill they can leverage later in their careers.

On December 13, many of the Youth Leadership students fundraised for their H2ECO company at the Chamber’s Business After Hours by selling stock to the event’s attendees. We were delighted that the student company president and Spackenkill High School sophomore, Caroline Sottile, spoke on the company during the event’s program. The students are shattering their fundraising goal for the company – we thank all of our community partners who have purchased stock and helped to spread the word about H2ECO – with every stock you buy, you empower local leadership, and help the environment! We also profoundly thank Track 1 lead Staci Cussick and the mentors for leading the students through these challenging projects.

    Leadership Dutchess Update

On December 7th, Leadership Dutchess held their session on “Public Speaking” at the Community at Brookmeade, presented by Michael Esposito of DenTen Insurance Services and Michael Esposito INC. In this highly engaging and participatory session, Michael led the Leadership Dutchess 2024 class through a workshop in which they used public speaking as a pathway to understand themselves better as leaders. Amanda Richline of Unshattered presented on the Nonprofit Spotlight.

Huge THANK YOU to Michael and Amanda for presenting, and to the Community at Brookmeade for hosting us!
